Information

Pouring polyurethane, also known as liquid rubber, is a product produced by pouring a liquid reaction mixture into a mold cavity. It is the most widely used and most productive polyurethane elastomer.

The main advantages of cast polyurethane:

   1. The adjustable range of castable polyurethane properties is wide.

Through the selection of raw materials and the adjustment of the formula, many physical and mechanical performance indicators can be changed within a certain range to meet the different requirements of users for product performance. For example, hardness is often an important indicator of products for users. Polyurethane elastomer can be made into a soft printing rubber roller with a Shore A hardness of about 20, and a hard roller rubber roller with a Shore D hardness of 70 or more, which is difficult for ordinary elastomer materials. Polyurethane elastomer is a polar polymer material composed of many flexible and rigid segments. As the proportion of rigid segments and the density of polar groups increase, the original strength and hardness of the elastomer will increase accordingly.

  2. Excellent abrasion resistance of cast polyurethane

Especially in the presence of wetting media such as water and oil, its abrasion resistance is often several to several tens of times that of ordinary rubber materials. Although metal materials such as steel are hard, they are not necessarily wear-resistant. For example, in a large-scale water pump in the Yellow River Irrigation District, the metal mouth ring and protection ring of the overflow parts were severely worn and leaked within a few hundred hours after being washed by a large amount of sediment. Device) will not wear out after 1800 hours of continuous operation. Others, such as rice mill rubber rollers for rice milling, vibrating screens for coal preparation, crawlers for sports fields, dynamic oil seal rings for cranes and forklifts, elevator wheels and roller skate wheels, polyurethane solid tires, photocopiers, and screen printing scrapers. It is also a place where polyurethane elastomers can be used. What I want to mention here is that in order to improve the coefficient of friction and wear resistance under load, a small amount of lubricant can be added to this type of polyurethane elastomer.

   3. Pouring polyurethane has various processing methods and wide applicability

Like general rubber, cast polyurethane can be formed by plasticization, mixing, and vulcanization (referred to as MPU); it can also be made into liquid rubber, which can be formed by casting or spraying, potting, centrifugal molding, etc. (referring to CPU); it It can also be made into pellets, like ordinary plastics, which can be molded by injection, extrusion, calendering, blow molding, etc. Molded or injection molded parts can also be processed by cutting, grinding and drilling within a certain hardness range. With the diversification of processing, the applicability of polyurethane elastomers is very wide, and the fields of application continue to expand.

   4. Pouring polyurethane has the advantages of oil resistance, ozone resistance, aging resistance, radiation resistance, low temperature resistance, good sound permeability, strong adhesion, excellent biocompatibility and blood compatibility, etc. Polyurethane elastomers are widely used in the military industry. The reasons in the fields of aerospace, acoustics, biology, etc. Adding calcium carbonate and silicon dioxide to improve high temperature resistance is a deficiency of polyurethane elastomers, but cast polyurethane is not perfect. Its main disadvantages are:

  1) High internal heat, high temperature resistance, and the normal operating temperature range is -40~120. If long-term action is required under high-frequency oscillation or high temperature conditions, corresponding modification measures must be taken in the structural design or formula.

   2) Not resistant to strong polar solvents and strong acids and alkalis. Alcohols, acids, and ketones will swell and degrade polyurethane elastomers at a certain temperature, while solvents such as dichloromethane, dimethylformamide, and trichloroethylene will swell polyurethane elastomers at room temperature.

   3) The recycling of its waste products is an international problem, and it is also a major issue of environmental pollution, because no country in the world can solve the problem of its waste products.
